A series of postcards created during my time spent in Baltimore, Maryland while on exchange at MICA. The series documents the hand painted signs in Baltimore in a relief print format. All of the postcards were created by hand using a printing press and various carving tools.
In collaboration with the Baltimore BNote, The City of Baltimore and The Maryland Institute College of Art, I was able to aid in the rebranding process of Baltimore's local currency known as BNote. The emphasis on my rebrand was to connect the visual language to the vibrancy and diversity of the city. I wanted to engage the community to buy locally with BNotes instead of paying with US currency.
In this project I was asked to create an alphabet using only a small set of basic geometric shapes: a grid of squares or a grid of dots. For my alphabet I chose to use squares and developed my concept around modern architectural floor plans. This project was completed for my Typography class at ECUAD.
